ARTIST HAYSI FANTAYZEE Call it our guilty pleasure, but we love this stuff and so will you. Maybe you've even been waiting 17 years for this to come out on CD. Well it's finally here and not a moment too soon … the debut release from one of the crown jewels of the early '80's club set, Haysi Fantayzee, featuring Jeremy Healey and Kate Garner. Always more than the amalgam of two people putting on bad clothes, Haysi Fantayzee charted three singles in the UK and were huge on the radio stations in the U.S. that "dared to be different" (WLIR- NY, KROQ - LA, WHFS - DC, etc.) as well as achieving mainstream and alternaclub domination at the time. Their writing included politically conscious songs/singles like "John Wayne Is Big Leggy," pop silliness with "Shiny Shiny," musical adventures in-a-dub-stylee with "Sister Friction" as well as social commentary in "The Sabres Of Paradise." But that's just the beginning of the story. Starting off as friends of Boy George, these guys became musical torch-bearers in the alterna-pop realm of the day. Battle Hymns For Children Singing features the brilliant production talents of Tony Visconti (David Bowie, Moody Blues, Thin Lizzy, et. al.) as well as Langer & Winstanley (Morrissey, Mdness, Elvis Costello, Lloyd Cole, et. al.). Combine fun songs, with crazy outfits and a bit o' '80's pizzazz and you've got a great album in your hands. The duo's talents have only grown since the original release of this album. After the group disbanded, Jeremy Healey and Kate Garner continue pursued other creative directions. Healey became one of the most sought after UK/European dj's throughout the '90's and continues his legendary sets at clubs worldwide as well as releasing mix cd's. Kate Garner pursued a career in photography, gaining renown as a fashion and rock photographer in L.A. In addition, the first-time CD release of any album is always cause for celebration particularly when bonus tracks and original artwork enhance the package.
