Pete's Message to the US fans

I am writing this to let all of you know I am devastated by the events of the last 48 hours. I dont think I am anything important, or that my feelings of shock and despair will make anything better for you all. I just have to say that I, too, am sad, and afraid. I just don’t know what this will lead to. It’s something we should never have to see, in our lifetimes. Anything I say will sound corny, I am not doing a Janet Jackson Alliyah tribute. I just really hope you all can come to terms with this. I adore your country, its been more of a home to me than my own. As you all know, i have been having a passionate love affair with New York City, for quite some time, and have often packed my bags with the intention of living there, I just always cop out at the last minute, maybe it’s old age?

I do believe there is such a thing as the American dream, and I also believe it can only come true, in America. I am so sad that now we have the bad dream, the nightmare that you have had to go through. I wish I could help, I wish anybody could help, turn back time, because that would be the best thing right now. Maybe then, this thing could have been prevented. I don’t believe in God, as such, and if I did, I would be seriously wondering how he was going to talk his way around this.

All of you are from a great country, even those that are from other countries, and have chosen America as their homes, did so because they knew there was magic in the air, over there. I just send you all my hopes for good things, my hopes that this terrible crime does not go unpunished. My hopes that the future we are all so afraid of, is a safer one. Anyway, if you can make some sense out of all I have written, you know my best wishes are with you all out there. I am so sad about it. Be strong.
