April 2000 The RIGHT STUFF now offers fans the opportunity to send out virtual postcards featuring DOA. To send a postcard, click here. Right now you only have the option of sending images, but soon audio files of music, Pete's voice, etc, will be added. March 2000 On Wednesday, March 29, a club in NYC called Mother is going to be hosting "Heroes" (The Early 80s Monthly) with a special tribute to Dead Or Alive. They will be playing DOA music and videos, giving away a few prizes, and featuring a few live performances. (Please note that Steve and Pete will not be there.) February 2000 We are now marking 20 years since Dead Or Alive took on its first, embryonic form. This year looks set to be an exciting one. Pete has written at least four new songs (MIRROR BALL, THE WRONG SIDE OF RIGHT, COME BACK, and BACK IN BUSINESS); at last reports recording will begin at the end of February. Pete and Jason Albury recently appeared in a UK magazine, photographed while out on the town. Thanks to Katsu for locating and posting the photo. March 1999 VIRGIN VOICES, the Madonna tribute, is available for ordering from CD NOW. CD NOW is also accepting advance orders for the SPIN ME/SEX DRIVE Cd digipack, which is due to hit stores in April.
Steve Coy announced today, March 3, that Dead or Alive are considering launching their own virtual record company, offering fans the opportunity to download new and classic DOA music and obtain DOA merchandise direct from the band. Steve and Pete ask fans to keep checking the Right Stuff for further details. We have also posted the Lexicon interview done with Pete awhile ago. To check it out, click here. February 1999 Pete appeared three times in a UK TV documentary aired on the evening of 17 February. Entitled "A Walk on the Wild Side," the show was a documentary examining androgyny in pop music, and was aired nationally on ITV. Pete appeared with red contact lenses and a red outfit which included a sweater with swatches of red across a white background, red trousers, and red lounging slippers. He commented on how he is never mentioned in UK fashion magazines because his appearance is so extreme that writers act like they don't see him so they don 't have to deal with him. The program's narrator commented that Pete's mid-80's appearance was merely preparation for the "exotic creature" he had become today. Many of the artists featured in the program, including Marc Almond and Holly Johnson, mentioned DOA with reference to artists who had a major impact on pop music as it developed in the 1980's. Although Pete looked thinner than when last seen publicly, he was in good spirits and was his usual candid self in the brief interview. This month marks the twentieth anniversary of Pete's arrival on the music scene as a serious (well, sort of) recording artist. Pat Geary has written a commentary that examines both Pete's career and the strong allure he and his music have continued to have for the fans. click here to read it. The GREATEST HITS compilation, (final title Dead Or Alive 2000) is finally ready for advance purchase!! Released on AVEX JAPAN, it is a 12 track Cd featuring remixed versions of "Spin Me", "Turn Around And Count 2 Ten", and ten other tracks, including 6 new ones. Pete and Steve are planning a trip to Japan soon to do some promoting (there are plans being laid for another trip in the fall, when the new album comes out.)
