|
|
Sorry to start this thread. Im expecting some abuse...
but i can no longer hold back...after reading many comments on this site coupled with the ABSOLUTE LACK OF INFORMATION from the official website i can only conclude that unless something drastic happens - ie information flow, then the die hard fan base of DOA will simply be that DEAD. There is a chance (small window) to change all of this.
I find it amazing that we as fans of DOA have to research and find information about DOA from third parties (ie the Dirty Disco) Good onya lads for atleast having the sense that the DOA fans want to hear something about their own group. CAUSE the official website wont tell us anything!!!!!
The official web site is OLD, IRREVLEVANT AND LACKS CONTENT. It needs a fresh approach (that i assume DOA & PETE BURNS still think there is a future)
I guess what everyone wants to know is DOA - ALIVE OR DEAD.
If there is not to be no more tell the fans that the group has split up, retired etc that way we can use this forum as a means to reflect on the great music they made and the contributions to the music industry instead of been teased with maybe's and then having to read comments by frustrated forum members that simply want answers.
Dont get me wrong the administrators of the offical site and this forum have done a great job, but there is something a miss!!!

I can understand your point, i'm sure we all want answers.
The DOA fans knows already these phases, i mean during the years we had up and down times here.
Anyway The Dirty Disco told us the collaboration its still alive.
Probably it takes (more) time....
Wait some official words or go away... make your choice....

No abuse towards you, unless you like that sorta thing
I do (mostly) agree with your post. I mean, we
look at other's Musician's/Artist's websites and they
are updated weekly/monthly with news straight from
the horse's mouth. Here, not so much anymore, not
for a longtime.... _________________

guess the powers to be must realise that the web is a powerful tool. Used properly and it can be a great tool for marketing any businesses including bands.
I agree i go to other bands websites they have content after content, heck they even tell us when they scracthed their balls on a daily basis.
thats what we want here. Information, band credits! there is nothing wrong to go on DOA website and announce that they have allowed XYZ to do covers of there own songs!! it provides clout to the music of DOA and tells the public the band and music is relevant
i find it hard that teenagers today dont realize the DOA are the original artist of spin me.... do i blame them no. There is a lack of marketing or information to allow these informed decisions by the band itself.
I dont mind a little bit of abuse _________________ thats why I came here, to mess with your mind |

Your rudeness and bad manners at times beggar belief, particularly when the comments that where made, where neither offensive or attacking anyone/thing at all!! With your don't like it or leave attitude, you should be very careful or you shall have no one left to moderate. You are correct when you say it goes through these phases, BUT, every so called new release over how many years now, never seems to get released. To your credit Carlo, your don't like it you can leave policy is working, people are leaving |

I asume this is a typo "I know now it's time for some head hunting", or are you threatening people??? Btw who is attacking the mods??? Is it now not allowed to question someone for high handedness and perhaps a little rudeness? Therefore, to use your logic, if you see something you don't like, then simply don't read it. |

Oh Carlo, how could anyone forget an absolute institution and stalwart of this board such as yourself is a mod? It's a sad day on here when someone questions your choice of words and it is perceived as an attack...very sad! Oh by the way, please have the good manners to actually answer what I asked you. Was that a simple typo (which we all do) or is this a warning shot across the bows about "head hunting"? There may be rules on this board, but I think you will find that the majority of members on this board live in fully functioning democracies and guess what, freedom of speech and expression is right up there, and enshrined in law, kinda trumps any rules on here. Besides you were not being attacked, merely questioned
To get back to the original topic before it was interrupted, King Beast your post is right on the mark, but be careful, you may get head hunted of the board for dissenting opinions |

Well about freedom of speech and expression just check what happened on The Dirty Disco's section of the forum. Mods said nothing there to stop people. Fans must say what they feel. Of course as i wrote for me its a no sense continue to say i dont like this i dont like that again and again and again.....and still keep it.
My point was about attacking the mods, we cant accept it.

And as my point to you has clearly stated, no person was attacking the mods, but not even mods are exempt from good manners and continually saying "if you don't like it leave" quite frankly is well, plain old bad manners. I again make the point, questioning someones choice of words is not an attack, it is exactly that, questioning.
Yes I have read that thread, and the lack of info around here is not the mods fault, you can only post what meagre, pathetic scraps are tossed your way by the site owner. But threats of head hunting and an attitude of if you don't like it leave is not perhaps the best way to try and deal with the current problems on this board. And whether you like it or not, this board is in serious trouble at this present time. In the past there have always been the odd 4 or 5 people with dissenting voices on here, and I am the first to put my hands up and say, I have on many occasions been one of those voices, but this board is dying and probably has been over the past 5 years with one failed release after another, not the mods fault. Perhaps you are approaching this from the wrong angle, maybe building bridges with people instead of alienating and having a bullying attitude may in the long run be far more constructive. This board is falling apart and there is probably more real debate going on in MSN, MSN chatrooms and the myriad of other internet chat facilities than what is happening here. Sad to see some of the real oldies on here have simply vanished and you can't put that down to everyone collectively having a bad time or personal drama Carlo, can you?
This all seems to have stemmed from an article and to be brutal, Pete really dropped the ball on that one and sadly it's the mods who have been trying to the best of their ability do some damage limitation since. Ultimately Pete who gives these interviews is "Pete the product" and you don't if truth be told fuck off a lot of the people who buy your product. Privately you can think what you like about your fanbase but it's kinda comercial suicide to say you really couldn't give a shit about your own website, particularly and here is the big reality, we are probably the only people who consistantly go out and buy those releases, 2500 odd people ain't that many really in the scale of things in the record buying public is it? |

I understood Carlo to mean that we fans are looking for someone to blame. That someone is Pete, not the mods at all. And he is right, as blunt as the point was, if it really is that bad then don't hang round the Forum... I'm sure he meant no offence, though you never know once something is said or written how it will be perceived... |

I often keep my thoughts to myself but wonder if the enthusiasm and interest to produce music is gone now with Pete. I hope I'm wrong I hope we haven't seen the best already and I cling onto that thought. I joined the website 5 years ago (been a huge Pete fan since 84!) and I've never known the forum so quiet or the feeling so low Quite sad really
Is Pete bothered about the future of TRS? If so, ONLY HE can inject life back into it. It would be very sad to see its demise _________________ "with each cigarette i light he's gonna lick between my legs. Ill be red raw with the amount I smoke!" P.Burns "unspun" 2006 |

We all need to understand that a lot of us come
from different parts of the world. What Carlo
says to someone from a country other than his
own might be taken the wrong way or completely
misunderstood. What is 'blunt' to one might be
offensive to the other. A lot of us have known
Carlo from the early days. Not all the time Carlo
and I have got along (lol) but we do share a
passion for Pete and DOA. We all need to meet
in the middle. I know English isn't Carlo's primary
language but he tries and carefully goes over what
he and everyone says. Hats off to you Carlo! _________________
